Earlier this week I posted Part I of Erica + Vinnie’s Chesterwood Wedding, which if you haven’t yet seen, I highly recommend checking out here!!
As mentioned in the previous post, these guys got married at Chesterwood in Stockbridge, MA, which is a small town in The Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. The ceremony site was the home and studio of Daniel Chester French, an American sculptor best known for crafting the seated Abraham Lincoln that’s featured in Washington DC’s Lincoln Memorial. The studio was literally designed for great light, with no southern-facing windows and a giant wall of northern-facing windows. The windows all had adjustable curtains, allowing for the sculptor to refine the wash of indirect sunlight. The sculpture was completed in pieces, each one being loaded onto a train that was able to back up directly to the workspace, which transported the pieces to be assembled in Washington. To this day a portion of the tracks that lead to the studio still remain (which of course we took advantage of!).
In addition to the beautiful buildings and grounds, views of Monument Mountain in Great Barrington made for a perfect backdrop for formal pictures. I have never been in a place that was both fascinating from a historical standpoint as well as amazing for photographs.
Following the ceremony, all of the guests were invited back to Vinnie’s family home in nearby Lee, MA, where a tented-reception waited. There were no shortage of photo-ops here either. The backyard stretched on and and with fields of tall grass and forrest in one direction and more amazing mountainous views in the backdrop.
I could go on-and-on about this wedding. I haven’t even mentioned the multiple hues of bridesmaids dresses, the naked rustic wedding cake, the jeweled candelabras or the band that got the dance floor rocking. Instead of going into all of this, why don’t you just scroll down and see for yourself 😉
